The below hotels are hotels that we recommend because of guests comments to us about staying at one of these locations in the past. They are not afiliated with us and we can not book them for you, we just recommend them so that you have options for your arrival and departure (in the case that you need to stay in San Jose) and don’t have to look around as much.

Pura Vida Hotel-Alajuela (4km from SJO airport)

Recommended as a gateway to Costa Rica.

The Pura Vida Hotel is a former coffee finca converted into a small boutique hotel just north of the international airport. We have just 6 accommodations ranging from a room with private bathroom to a 6 person Casita with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The Casitas are situated in a large neo-tropical garden with many bird and butterfly species. Within the garden you will also find an orchidarium and a specialized herb garden along with many fruit trees such as mango, durian, carambola, lemon and more. There is a private secure parking area in the compound.

Price range: Prices include an excellent breakfast and a free International airport taxi pickup on arrival. Prices range from $90 to $155 double occupancy plus 13% tax.

in room coffee.

Hotel Los Volcanes-Alajuela (2km from SJO airport)

Recommended if you would like a convenient hotel close to the airport.

Located just 5 minutes from the International Airport, this hotel comprises a renovated building from the 1920′s. A great choice for late arrivals or early departures. Los Volcanes offers comfortable accommodations for reasonable prices.
Accommodations: Standard rooms with shared or private bathrooms, and Superior Rooms with flat screen TV, air conditioning and private bathroom. The Standard Rooms can fit up to 3 people while the Superior Rooms are only for 2 people.We will send you the information of the available units so you can choose your own unit.

Recommended if you would like to stay in a luxurious boutique hotel

Recommended if you would like to stay outside
of the city in a peaceful location
