This weekend we had a fabulous beach wedding. Bamboo chairs and tiki torches at the ceremony made for a very rustic and natural look. Each tiki torch had purple and white flower arrangements. A Costa Rica wedding is the perfect way to kick back and relax. We take care of all of the planning and arrangements for you ahead of time, so that the bride and groom can arrive and enjoy their wedding with their friends and family. Our wedding dinner is a goumet buffet with an organic salad bar, chips and dips, bread and spreads, lasagna, rice, vegetables and a grill with fresh fish and chicken. The night ended with a chocolate wedding cake!

Thai and Alyson moved to Costa Rica to teach English. They fell in love with the country and after having lived here for a couple years were offered the opportunity to run a language school here in Montezuma. They moved to Montezuma last August to run Proyecto Montezuma. In March, they invited their friends and family to come visit their new home and celebrate their wedding! In the days before the wedding a volcano erupted in Costa Rica’s central valley and strong winds blew the ash into San Jose. This caused many flights to be cancelled or delayed and unfortunately many of Thai and Alyson’s guests were effected my this. In the end two guests were not able to make it, but everyone else was able to arrive just in time for the wedding. The gorgeous day was captured by Ale Sura Photography. All wedding planning and preparation was done by Ylang Ylang Beach Resort. Check out the beautiful photos below of their Costa Rica Beach Wedding.
Kayla and Brian came to Ylang Ylang shortly before Brian was to be deployed to Afghanistan. On their trip to Ylang Ylang, they reserved a romantic dinner on the beach. During that dinner, Brian gave Kayla a promise ring and they committed to being there for each other when he got home. Because of this romantic evening, Ylang Ylang has always been a special place to them and they knew that some day they would come back and host their wedding here.
Last month, Kayla and Brian got married here at Ylang Ylang, surrounded by a large group of family and friends. The day of the wedding began beautiful and sunny, however, the afternoon turned stormy and we soon figured out that their outdoor beach wedding would not be possible. The entire staff at Ylang Ylang jumped into action to transform the yoga studio into a magical ceremony space. This rainy day wedding was completely transformed! Their ceremony was done by a close friend and was very touching. They wrote and read their own personal vows and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
The amazingly wonderful photographer, Ale Sura, offered to come back the next morning to capture their couple’s portraits. She did a stunning job of capturing this special day. Check out the photos below!
This amazingly gorgeous beach wedding had beautiful personal touches and tropical colors. The wedding was hosted here at Ylang Ylang Beach Resort where we work to create beautiful tropical beach weddings. The ceremony was decorated with pink, yellow and orange flowers, our beautiful driftwood arch and bamboo chairs.
The bride and groom spent months collecting driftwood from the beach and painting signs for their ceremony. It was important to the bride and groom that their guests were comfortable and barefoot for their beach ceremony.
The tropical wedding reception was decorated with light pink, orange, and yellow lanterns. The tables numbers, menus and name cards were decorated with a hand drawn traditional Costa Rican ox cart wheel made by the groom’s mother and sister (shown below) and our florist made customized wooden boxes for the flower arrangements. The also added some personal touches like the “Just Married” sign.

This past weekend, we had a beautiful destination beach wedding planned. Unfortunately, we got a huge rain storm come through and we had to completely change the plan last minute. We moved the ceremony to an indoor area above the restaurant that is used as our yoga studio. It wasn’t what the couple had planned on, but we transformed the space into a beautiful ceremony. What resulted was a new destination wedding opportunity to offer to our guests.
Our whole team worked hard to clean and transform this space. We now have a beautiful new ceremony location option, which is especially helpful during our rainy season. We are excited to expand our destination wedding ideas!
